Don't the emergency services already provide security advice and assistance?

This kind of help and protection is offered in varying degrees by emergency services around the world. However, there are frequently occasions when incidents involving personal security are outside the scope of the emergency services and as a result, many of our clients rely on their red24 membership and our highly experienced security personnel to support them in difficult situations.

If I am in trouble abroad, why should I contact red24 and not my embassy?

You should contact both. Your embassy always has an important role to play when things go wrong overseas. However, we differ from them in the following ways:
  • Our interests are for the member and their family; your embassy has political considerations. We are dedicated to you and offer impartial advice and assistance.
  • In the event of a major disaster, our focus is purely on the member and their dependents.

Why do I need red24 membership as well as travel insurance?

Travel insurance provides excellent protection for all matters related to your travel arrangements or should you become ill while travelling. However, red24 membership will enhance this cover by providing further protection for your safety and security. Also, travel insurance tends to be offered with a number of caveats and exclusions. For example, terrorism is often excluded. red24 membership should be regarded as an addition to your basic travel insurance, to cover you, your family or your employees in the event of security or safety crises.
